RIDE4CLAIRE 2026
Ride4Claire 2026 Announcement
Over the past six years, we have ridden 2,506 miles, climbed nearly 150,000 feet, and spent 130 hours in the saddle, averaging 19.0 mph. These miles have been ridden both solo and alongside amazing friends, through hours of both downpouring rain and 90°+ temperatures.
However, all of those numbers pale in comparison to the amazing $78,600 that has been raised to benefit Boston Children’s Hospital since 2020. It is but a small token of appreciation for the world-class care our family has received from BCH, and the same care that is provided to so many families every single day.
Whenever I question whether I want to make another Ride4Claire happen, something usually provides the catalyst to get my butt in gear. This year is no exception.
As the one and only namesake for the ride so succinctly called out, “Dad, when is Ride4Claire happening this year?”
Well, if that wasn’t the trigger moment, I don’t know what is.
It’s pretty full circle when the girl you started fundraising on behalf of as a 1-year-old tells you, in clear and concise language, as a 7.5-year-old, that the time is now.
I’ve thought about this for a month or so and have decided that Ride4Claire 2026 will be hitching its wagon to the amazing people who have put on the unPAved Pennsylvania race weekend since 2018.
They—and the race—are near and dear to my heart. It’s really exactly the type of vibe that racing and riding bikes should be about: family-friendly, doing good for the local community, and supporting our great bike community. Things we can all get behind.
This year’s ride, which I believe is worthy enough to earn your continued support, will be none other than unPAved’s “Big Lick.”
As their website states, it is:
“For the ultra-cyclists who have proven they have what it takes to ride many miles, lots of hills, through the night, and be self-sufficient the whole time.”
That sounds pretty on the nose for what R4C is all about.
Claire, Kait, and I thank everyone who has supported this cause over the years. We look forward to the year ahead and, as always, appreciate your support more than we can say.
The Big Lick is made up of:
- 197 miles
- 17,000’ of elevation
- 63% unPAved
